Some Shopify stores are reporting they are being shut down or suspended for alleged “price gouging” on coronavirus related products.

One store, who asked not to be identified, reports that it offers products it makes itself and, while they admit they are more expensive than others, they have not made price adjustments in wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

The store asked for the products to not be identified in this report.

Many ecommerce platforms have been actively shutting down or suspending accounts for people selling health, cleaning and other products at higher than normal prices (like this high profile incident with Amazon).

Some sellers have been firing back at ecommerce platforms after being suspended because they claim the “higher” prices are needed to cover shipping and processing prices, which they claim the companies aren’t accounting for when gauging whether “price gouging.”
