Adobe’s head of typography, Matthew Rechs, is leaving the company — and laid out both Adobe’s plans for the division and his own in a series of tweets.
/NEWS: I’ve resigned from Adobe! A tough decision, but the right one and for the right reasons. Next week I’ll wrap up the better part of a decade btw Type & Typekit — one of the best experiences of my life. I have known no better group of people, and probably never will.

/Going fwd Adobe Type will be led by Brent Getlin, Director Engineering. Brent’s an amazing manager, mentor & coach. He’ll lead my team incl @ChristopherSlye who still heads up type biz. Slye’s team inclds the very famous @AriadneRem who many of y’all know, no changes there.

/You may know I hired @sberlow a few months ago. Sam has joined our product team with the ambition to change Adobe even more than I have, by bringing type industry magic to the masses. He’s started down that road already and will continue under Brent.

/Working alongside giants like Sam and @timbrown (who are working together now every day, which should scare you) & there are dozens more on this team… it’s been an unimaginable privilege. Letting go of that is incredibly difficult, but it’s time to move on to the next thing:

/(Friends: If you wanted to help me get that off the ground, you could retweet that ^^ for me! I would be so grateful. ?)

/I’ll also spend more time working with @Unicode, the non-profit that encodes the world’s languages (and emoji) so they all work together online. I’ve learned so much through my work on the board at Unicode, I'm hoping to really ? my impact this year.

/That’s all for now. Thanks to everybody who helped make my time at @adobefonts so wonderful. I’ll never forget you all, and I can’t wait to work with you all again. I’ll be back!
