After the city of Chicago imposed limitations on bars and restaurants that sell alcohol to cut down on St. Patrick’s Day crowds, Gov. J.B. Pritzker  announced a statewide band on dine in establishments starting Monday, March 16, 2020.

The city has already postponed its iconic St. Patrick’s Day parade over coronavirus worries — but reports have sprung up that people were still planning to celebrate at local bars.

Initially, it seems like Chicagoans would still be able to celebrate under the condition that establishments that serve alcohol to half their normal capacity — with an overall cap of 100 people for establishments with higher capacities than 200.

Businesses were going to be restricted from “lining up” customers waiting to come in outside.

However, that all ended up being a moot point as the governor’s announcement came Sunday.

Restaurants and bars will no longer be permitted to operate on premises dining or bar service.

Curbside and takeout will still be allowed, however.
