KFC to test vegan ‘fried chicken’

KFC is starting a test of a vegan “fried chicken” menu item.

The trial will take place in Atlanta and feature a new offering created with Beyond Meat.

Customers can pick from a “nugget” with a side of dipping sauce or “wing” format tossed in sauce.

Sauce choices include buffalo, Nashville hot and honey barbecue.

While the product is entirely plant based, it is cooked in the same fryers as the real chicken menu items.

In addition, the honey barbecue sauce may not count as being vegan thanks to the honey part.

KFC is marketing the new menu item as a “Kentucky Fried Miracle.”
