Papa John’s ‘Jack-O’-Lantern pizza’ is more ‘trick’ than ‘treat’ in many cases

Pizza chain Papa John’s announced a “Jack-O’-Lantern pizza” offering for Halloween earlier this month.
- The offering was meant to be a round pie with a “stem” made from crust at the top.
- Pepperoni ringed the outside, with “eyes” and a “mouth” formed with pepperoni as well — and a black olive in each eye.
- Perhaps not surprisingly, not every Papa John’s pizza maker was able to master the look (or perhaps they didn’t have time to).
- People took to social media to share lopsided, burnt, messy and even downright creepy photos of what they got.
- Papa John’s defended itself, pointing out that each pie is “handmade” but did ask disappointed customers to contact them.
- The chain’s Twitter account also responded to customer photos asking them to get in touch.
We’ve never actually tried dipping a pumpkin in garlic sauce, but this Jack-O’-Lantern pizza is definitely better. Get yours today for $11 pic.twitter.com/pJSwNKQ1EZ
