Citing its close times to the ocean seafood restaurant chain Red Lobster has announced plans for a change in its use of plastic straws.
- “Starting in November, we will begin offering plastic straws only upon request and will begin to replace plastic straws with an eco-friendly alternative straw by the end of 2020,” the restaurant said in a social media post.
- “This commitment is expected to eliminate almost 150 million plastic straws per year from our restaurants and expands our Seafood with Standards practices.”
- Plastic straws, which are generally non-recyclable, have come under fire for the harm they do to the environment, especially to marine life.
