Meat processor Tyson will require all of its U.S. workers to receive the coronavirus vaccine.

The company is giving its leadership team until Sept. 24, 2021, to get vaccinated and office staffers must be in compliance by Oct. 1, 2021.

“Front line” workers will have until Nov. 1, 2021.

Meat processing plants owned by a variety of companies were the sites of multiple COVID-19 outbreaks in 2020, as were other facilities such as warehouses, fulfillment centers and factories where workers tend to work close together and in less than ideal conditions.

There were concerns at the time that major outbreaks at food processing facilities could affect food supply in the U.S. and, although there were a variety of shortages and inventory issues reported, it tended to be isolated to specific brands or types of food.
