Shopify adds native chat functionality

Shopify has launched a native, built in chat option.
The service, which is available at no extra cost to Shopify store owners, expands upon the platform’s existing Ping app.
In fact, the Ping app still serves as the home base for Shopify Chat conversations from a store owner’s perspective.
Ping also integrates with Facebook Messenger and Apple Business Chat.
Shopify Chat will build upon Ping’s existing functionality to allow store reps to chat with customers, share discounts and create draft orders that can be pushed to chat customers, who can then check out directly from the link.
It also integrates with Shopify’s Kit marketing service.
