Fox’s Shepard Smith left the network as of Oct. 11, 2019, which was also the last edition of “Shepard Smith Reporting.”
- During his surprise on air announcement, he implied that his exit deal with Fox included a noncompete clause, meaning he can’t appear on air on another network for a period of time.
- He did not rule out a return to TV, however.
- The 3 p.m. eastern timeslot will become known as “Fox News Reporting” and feature rotating hosts until the network decides on a final program for the timeslot.
On July 8, 2020, CNBC announced it has hired Smith to anchor “The News with Shepard Smith” starting in the fall of 2020.
