NBC News‘ Al Roker is returning with a COVID-19 version of his trademark Rokerthons.

Roker will attempt to set a Guinness World Records title by hosting a virtual sandwich making relay under the banner “Rokerthon: The Great American Sandwich Relay.”

The idea of a sandwich can be found in the event’s logo design.

Celebrity chefs including Lidia Bastianich, Bobby Flay, Priya Krishna, Sandra Lee, Marcus Samuelsson, Martha Stewart, Molly Yeh, Andrew Zimmern and more will make appearances.

In total, 60 chefs are scheduled to participate.

Roker and his guests will attempt to get the title for the most people in an online live sandwich making relay.

According to Guinness, a sandwich is defined as at least two traditional or classic ingredients, not including condiments, placed between two slices of bread.

As for the relay part, each person must complete a qualifying sandwich before the next person starts.

Guests will share their recipes each sandwich and also discuss food insecurity and encouraging viewers to donate to Feeding America and World Central Kitchen.

This year’s Rokerthon will start at 8:30 a.m. eastern on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020 and be available on Today All Day, the show’s new 24 hour stream.

Rokerthon debuted in November 2014 when Roker broke the Guinness World Records title for the longest uninterrupted live TV weather report, reporting live for a remarkable 34 hours.

Rokerthon continued when he set the Guinness World Records title for the fastest time to report a weather forecast from all 50 states and the District of Columbia and for visiting five college campuses in five days to help college students break additional Guinness World Records titles.
