A CBS News source has denied reports that “CBS This Morning” executive producer Shawna Thomas will appear on the renamed program as the host of the “What to Watch” segment.

The show, which is being renamed “CBS Mornings” Sept. 7, 2021, currently features Vladimir Duthiers as the host of this segment.

A CBS News press release specifically noted that Duthiers will continue in that role on the relaunched program.

At least one insider publication reported that Thomas had “appointed” herself as the on air talent for the segment, comparing the move to “Jeopardy!” executive producer Mike Richards essentially naming himself host of the show.

Sources told FTVLive that the decision was met with a complaint to the union representing CBS talent.

It’s not immediately clear if Thomas made the decision, either officially or unofficially, as reported by FTVLive, but then recanted it after concerns were raised internally.

Either way, the source said that CBS is moving forward with Duthiers as host of the segment.

Meanwhile, FTVLive also reports that Thomas has “isolated” herself from staffers, which is causing internal strife as the show prepares for its relaunch under the new name.
