CBS Evening News” anchor Norah O’Donnell wasn’t behind the anchor desk May 24, 2022, after she tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend.

John Dickerson was filling in for O’Donnell in Washington.

After the May 23, 2022, Uvalde school shooting, CBS will broadcast “Evening” from the Texas town with “CBS Mornings” co-anchor Tony Dokupil filling in for O’Donnell.

Earlier in 2022, amid speculation that CBS might drop O’Donnell due to her high price and low ratings, Dokupil’s name was circulated as a possible replacement for her.

O’Donnell and CBS eventually came to an agreement and she will continue to anchor the broadcast through at least the 2024 election.
