CBS News will move its morning show “CBS This Morning” to the Ed Sullivan Theater — normally the home of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”

The network was the first major broadcast facility to report multiple cases of coronavirus last week.

CBS mostly closed down its broadcast center on West 57th Street, but “CBS This Morning” did move back in, with a reduced crew, Saturday, March 14, 2020.

The building underwent heavy cleaning as well.

However, CBS News president Susan Zirinsky announced the network will relocate “This Morning” to the home of the network’s late night talk show rather than continue to use Studio 57 in the CBS Broadcast Center.

The change is expected to start Thursday, March 19, 2020.

Colbert’s show has temporarily shut down production since going on an earlier than scheduled hiatus due to the outbreak, so the facility is sitting mostly unused.

Zirinsky noted that the move is part of an effort of “diversifying” locations — presumably to help spread operations out and reduce the possibility of transmission.
