Chicago forecaster’s nerdiness stumps anchors

WGN morning meteorologist Morgan Kolkmeyer went all out for the deep freeze that hit Chicago.

  • Apparently not content with just the chroma key wall, Kolkmeyer brought out an easel and drew charts and maps on sheets of paper mounted on it.
  • Kolkmeyer also attempted to explain the formula for calculating wind chill.
  • Later, in the “9 at 9” round segment, the WGN Morning News anchors poked fun at Kolkmeyer with the station putting up the lengthy (and complex) formula in the lower third banner.
  • The anchors attempted to read it, but got stumped not even halfway through.
  • Meanwhile, the control room played a “nerd alert” sound effect during the segment.
