Longtime CNN contributor Jeffrey Toobin is leaving the network after 20 years, according to a tweet he sent Aug. 12, 2022.
Toobin has appeared across multiple CNN shows over the years, contributing his legal background and expertise to the news of the day.
Friends, I’ve decided that, after 20 years, I’m leaving @cnn after my vacation. Was great to spend my last day on air with pals Wolf, Anderson and Don. Love all my former colleagues. Watch for my next book, about the Oklahoma City bombing, coming in 2023 from @simonandschuster

Until 2000, Toobin was also a staff writer at The New Yorker, but was fired after he was accidentally captured performing a sexual act on himself during a staff Zoom call. The incident did not occur during a CNN meeting.
The New Yorker initially suspended him but would later fire him over the incident, for which he apologized. He also took a leave from CNN after the incident that ended up lasting eight months.
He returned to CNN and continued appearing regularly but has been on vacation for at least several days.
He tweeted that his tenure at the network will end after he returns.
