TelevisaUnivision, which was formed via a merger in later January 2022, said its first-quarter revenue will show a 12.2% increase.

That pushes the combined company’s revenue over the $1 billion mark, a key metric after Univision and Televisa agreed to merge in a $4.8 billion deal.

Because the deal was closed in January, most of the first quarter 2022 financials the company reported April 26, 2022, examined numbers from Jan. 1, 2022, onward, even though the deal was not closed at that time, and compared it to Televisa’s data January through March 2021, which fell well before the merger.

Advertising revenue rose 12% to $569 million, with a 14.3% increase in the U.S. subscription and licensing revenue was up 14.3%.

March 2022 saw the launch of the free, ad-supported streaming ViX and the company plans to continue its streaming efforts with ViX+ later in the year.
