Corporate synergy: ABC News is heavily covering ‘The Lion King,’ including ‘exclusives’

ABC News, which is owned by Disney, has been offering coverage across its programming of the upcoming release of the live action “The Lion King” — which is, of course, a Disney film.
- This type isn’t at all unusual — NBC regularly pays close attention to Universal films and other releases from within its corporate family.
- ABC News is also producing a special, entitled “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” featuring “GMA” anchor Robin Roberts.
- The network is also heavily promoting “exclusive” interviews and first looks that will pop up during its programming — though it’s worth noting these aren’t exactly big “gets” given the network’s ties to the film.
