Denver CBS owned station takes over ‘Weekend News’ production

After KTVT in Dallas handled production of “CBS Weekend News” March 14 and 15, 2020 and March 28 and 29, 2020, those duties were handed over to KCNC in Denver April 5 and 6, 2020.

On Saturday, April 5, 6 and 10 p.m. anchor Jim Benemann fronted the broadcast.

Sunday’s April 6’s edition was held down by anchor Karen Leigh.

CBS News has been distributing production of its various programs after its CBS Broadcast Center in New York was mostly closed in March 2020 due to multiple coronavirus cases.

“CBS Weekend News” is a the weekend equivalent of “CBS Evening News” and is normally produced from the Studio 57 newsroom in New York City that is also used by CBSN.

CBS has been using a combination of local crew and editorial staffers along with network level producers, editors and writers — most of whom are working remotely.
