DNC confirms October debate will be one night

Despite an initial announcement that it would cap all debates at 10 participants per night, the Democratic National Committee says it will feature all candidates on one night for its October debate.

• The debate, hosted by CNN and The New York Times, will have 12 participants based on the qualifications outlined by the DNC.
• Before the DNC officially certified the polls, those 12 candidates were widely expected to all meet the qualifications.
• Presumably since 12 is just two over the 10 candidate threshold previously announced, the DNC decided it wasn’t worth trying to split the dozen into two groups of six (or some other combination).
• However, a common complaint among viewers during the past debates was that the debates felt rushed and disorganized with 10 candidates so who knows what adding two more will do.
• The debate airs Oct. 15, 2019.
