Eddie Murphy will host “Saturday Night Live” Dec. 21, 2019 — marking his first major appearance on the show since he left it in 1984.
Murphy is widely credited with helping save the show back in its sixth season when the show’s original cast and creator departed.
He left in 1984 for to pursue a film career and has only returned once since then — a brief appearance on the show’s 40th anniversary special in 2015.
However, NBC has announced he’s hosting in December as part of a publicity tour for his Netflix movie “Dolemite Is My Name.”
His show doesn’t have a musical guest assigned yet.
