Ellen DeGeneres signs on for more seasons of talk show

Ellen DeGeneres‘ syndicated talk show will be around through 2022.

  • According to Variety, DeGeneres has inked a deal to continue hosting her namesake talk show through 2022.
  • Her current contract expires in 2020.
  • There were reports that DeGeneres was considering leaving the show at the end of her current deal.
  • Some of these reports indicated she has grown “tired” of hosting the show, which is in its 16th season in syndication.
  • She’s also taken the somewhat unusual step of having guest hosts fill in for her in recent seasons.
  • DeGeneres’ new deal reportedly gives her even more of an ownership stake in her show, making the new contract even more lucrative for her.
  • In addition to the talk show, DeGeneres also hosts “Ellen’s Game of Games” on NBC and has also signed a deal with the network to host three “Ellen’s Greatest Night of Giveaways” holiday specials this year.
  • The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” or “Ellen” as it is more commonly known, is produced by Warner Bros. subsidiary Telepictures, DeGeneres’ own A Very Good Production and E.W. Scripps.
  • The show is distributed into syndication by Warner Bros. Television Distribution.
  • “Ellen” has a major syndication deal with NBC’s owned and operated stations that covers most major markets in the U.S.
