The death of conservative panelist and columnist Charles Krauthammer has been a prominent fixture on Fox News:
- “Special Report” left an empty chair on set for Krauthammer on Thursday, June 22, 2018.
- Throughout the day Friday, June 22, the network has devoted significant airtime to covering Krauthammer’s death with a parade of reporters and analysts paying tribute to him — some of them moved to tears.
- In addition, Fox has been showing a memoriam-style graphic between shows.
- Normally, this spot is reserved for brief cross-talk between host, but Krauthammer’s image has been shown between every show as of noon eastern.
- The network has also been heavily promoting its special on Krauthammer, “His Words,” with a promo box in the lower right of the screen.
- The promo bug appeared heavily during “Fox & Friends” and “America’s Newsroom,” though it was taken down during performances by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
- By the time “Outnumbered” hit the air, the box was used less frequently.
