With everyone already on edge with coronavirus, a Salt Lake City station was caught off guard with a 5.7 magnitude earthquake hit the city.
KUTV was airing a live shot from Reno when the quake struck the studio in Salt Lake March 18, 2020.
“It’s a freaking earthquake,” anchor Ron Bird can be heard while the on camera reporter, unaware at first of what was happening, continued his update.
KUTV, which is the sister station of KJZZ, is on the first floor of a 26 floor building that has been retrofitted with “rollers” to help it withstand an earthquake.
