“The Jennifer Hudson Show” has announced its fall 2022 premiere date.
The syndicated talk show featuring newly-minted EGOT winner, singer, actor and producer Jennifer Hudson will air its first episode Sept. 12, 2022, a Monday.
The show is produced by much of the same team as who helmed “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” which ended its 19 run earlier this year.
“Hudson” is slated to be produced on Stage 1 on the Warner Bros. lot in the Los Angeles area, the same studio “Ellen” used.
While “Ellen” had a major distribution deal with NBC-owned stations, “Hudson” has signed a deal with Fox-owned stations in major markets to carry the show. In markets outside of these stations, the show may air on other stations.
“Hudson” was speculated to be the replacement for “The Kelly Clarkson Show” on NBC-owned stations after the group announced “Clarkson” would move to the old “Ellen” timeslot, leading into most station’s 4 p.m. newscasts.
Some reports said that NBC saw “Hudson” as a way to create a block of shows built around musicians turned talk show hosts. Clarkson is a hit recording artist and “American Idol” winner.
However, NBC did not acquire the rights to the show, and there’s still, as of June 2022, a big opening the the owned stations’ schedule that has gone mysteriously unfilled.
