“NBC Nightly News” anchor Lester Holt accepted the 2019 ASU Cronkite Award Monday, Nov. 4, 2019.
- “The seeds of media distrust that have been planted in our pathways to the truth, require us to be bold but also transparent,” he said in his acceptance speech.
- “Journalism naturally gloms onto conflict. But increasingly our work has been used as an instrument of conflict,” he said. “We deal in facts, but know our reporting must cut through a thick partisanship that too often clings to what it wants to be true while showing an aversion to what might actually be true.”
Congratulations @LesterholtNBC on receiving the 2019 Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism.
