“CBS Evening News with Norah O’Donnell” debuted Monday, July 15, 2019 using a straightforward, no-nonsense approach to news.
- Gone were segments with catchy names such as “headlines” and “rundown” news summaries.
- The broadcast featured straightforward anchor intros to packages.
- “Evening” also kept elements of the previous look, in a new color, along with completely new designs.
- Although not new or unique, the broadcast did make use of “debriefs” where O’Donnell asked correspondents a quick question to give more details after the major stories.
- The broadcast was mostly smooth as well, save for one dizzying glitch when going to a break.
- O’Donnell quoted legendary CBS newsman Edward R. Murrow in her sign-off.
