One of NBC News’ legendary ‘four horsemen’ has died

Sander Vanocur, who started in TV news in the 1960s, died Monday, Sept. 16, 2019.
- Vanocur was 91.
- He died from complications from dementia.
- Vanocur worked for NBC News from the 1960s until 1977.
- During that time, he was on the panel of people posing questions to John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon during the first ever televised presidential debate in 1960.
- He became known as one of the “four horsemen” of NBC News, along with Frank McGee, John Chancellor and Edwin Newman.
- Vanocur jumped to ABC in 1977, working there until 1991.
- He also worked for PBS and The Washington Post.
