Despite an anchor shakeup and big talent investment, “CBS This Morning” has been hit with a ratings drop.
The third place network morning show, already in third place, has seen its ratings drop 21% since introducing a new anchor team.
“This Morning” had been posting periods of growth while competitors “Today” and “GMA” were losing viewers.
According to Nielsen data, the show slipped from 3.127 million viewers to 2.704 million in the week before and after the anchor changes.
Co-anchor Gayle King, who was the network’s only major news talent to remain in place after the massive shakeup, reportedly more than doubled her salary after renegotiating to remain at CBS earlier this year.
King was joined at “This Morning” by Tony Dokoupil and Anthony Mason, who replaced Norah O’Donnell and John Dickerson.
