“Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts is marking 30 years with ABC and the Disney family.
- Roberts began her TV career at WDAM in Mississippi before moving to WLOX.
- From there, she moved up to WSMV in Nashville and WAGA in Atlanta.
- In 1990, she joined ESPN as a reporter. At the time, Disney had not yet acquired ABC or ESPN yet (that would happen in 1996).
- After years of appearing on both ABC and ESPN, including “Good Morning America” as a news anchor, she was named main co-anchor of the show alongside Diane Sawyer.
- Sawyer would leave in 2009 to anchor “World News Tonight” and ABC paired her with George Stephanopoulos.
- Roberts publicly battled both breast cancer and a bone marrow disease during her time at “GMA.”
- During Jan. 15, 2020’s “Good Morning America,” the team took a look back at her time with ABC and Disney.
