‘SNL’ suspending production
NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” will suspend production amid the coronavirus outbreak, reports Variety.
The show had been slated to return March 28, 2020 with host John Krasinksi, whose appearance was planned to help promote his film “Quiet Place II.”
That film, however, has had its release date pushed due to the outbreak.
It’s not clear when the show will return with new episodes.
Although other NBC shows have either stopped using studio audiences or suspended production, it wasn’t clear until now what the network would do with “SNL.”
The show relies heavily on a studio audience to gauge reactions to skits during rehearsal — which ultimately decides which ones make it to the real broadcast later.
The live nature of the show also relies heavily on audience feedback.
