Some cable nets change how they cover coronavirus briefings — but you can probably guess which one didn’t

CNN and MSNBC both made tweaks to how they covered the daily White House coronavirus briefing Tuesday, March 31, 2020 — with Fox carrying it as is.

The changes follow calls from the public, media analysts and even their own journalists have called for given Donald Trump’s tendency to make inaccurate and misleading statements during his introductory remarks.

MSNBC carried most of Trump’s remarks live, though “MTP Daily” anchor Chuck Todd covered a portion of it by explaining the network would be keeping a close eye on statements made and promising to bring context to what was saying when needed.

Meanwhile, CNN didn’t even cut to the event until Trump was wrapping up his remarks and Dr. Deborah Birx took the lectern.

CNN also added a promo box in the corner of the screen directing viewers to its fact checking portion of CNN.com.

Perhaps not surprisingly, Fox’s conservative commentary channel carried Trump’s opener live — coincidentally cutting off “The Five” panel member Juan Williams (one of the network’s more liberal voices) with its “alert” sound effect.
