Multiple sources tell the Daily Beast that NBC execs directed “Today” producers to omit Matt Lauer from the show’s celebration of 25 years in Studio 1A.
The show celebrated the space’s 25th birthday June 20, 2019.
However, many viewers noted that imagery or references to Lauer were glaringly missing.
Several previous “Today” anchors were featured in the retrospective clips the show used.
Lauer was fired by NBC in November 2017 after an internal sexual misconduct investigation.
