‘The Connors’ teasers airing on ABC

ABC is airing short teasers for “Roseanne” spinoff “The Connors” that features a familiar typeface and cast of characters — sans Roseanne Barr, of course:

• The new promo features star John Goodman providing voiceover, much like he does for ABC News’ “Straightforward” image campaign.
• On screen is the show’s title, “The Connors” in the same typeface used for the “Roseanne” logotype.
• Also appearing on screen are Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson and Michael Fishman, who are all reprising their roles from the “Roseanne” universe.
• “The Connors” debuts Oct. 16, 2018.
• “Roseanne” returned to ABC’s schedule for the 2017-2018 season, but, despite high ratings, was canceled after star Roseanne Barr made racist comments on social media.
• ABC and Barr reportedly negotiated “The Connors” spinoff, with Barr relinquishing any creative, management or financial interest in the production.
• Goodman has hinted that Barr’s character will be “killed off” to explain her rather notable absence from the family-centric sitcom.
