“CBS Evening News” anchor Norah O’Donnell is still sidelined after testing positive for COVID-19, and the network is opting to use Tony Dokupil, who is already on scene in Texas, to anchor May 25, 2022.
O’Donnell announced she had tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend and has not anchored “Evening” this week.
It’s not immediately clear if she is suffering from symptoms. In the past, O’Donnell had been in close contact with someone who later tested positive for coronavirus and anchored from a remote location, presumably a home-based studio. During the height of the pandemic “NBC Nightly News” anchor Lester Holt broadcast from his home, while other networks had home studios on standby for their anchors.
CBS also has correspondents on the ground in Ulvalde, Texas.
