Whoopi surprises her ‘View’ co-hosts

“The View” co-host and moderator Whoopi Goldberg made a surprise visit to the set of the show Thursday, March 14, 2019.

• Goldberg has been off the show for several weeks after fighting a severe respiratory infection.
• On Thursday’s show, as co-host Joy Behar, who typically fills in for Goldberg as moderator when she’s out, was kicking off the show by announcing Goldberg was still out sick but would be returning when Goldberg entered the studio through the same wall the rest of the hosts just walked out of.
• That just happens to be located directly behind Behar.
• Behar then tried to offer Goldberg the moderator’s seat — which is the one on the far left of the table, but was apparently told by producers that Goldberg should use the second seat in from the left.
• Eventually an extra chair was brought in as co-hosts celebrated Goldberg’s visit and discussed her illness.
• The show then went to break but returned with Goldberg in the second chair.
• Based on Goldberg’s comments, it appears she will still be taking some time before returning to regular appearances on the show.
