How NBC is promoting its comedy Thursday

NBC, known for its famous (but former) “Must See TVbranding for its Thursday night comedy block, is using a new approach.

The network is taking advantage of the last letter in its name to form “NBComedy Thursday” branding to promote its Thursday schedule, which includes “Superstore,” “The Good Place,” “Will & Grace” and “I Feel Bad.”

It’s worth noting that the previous version of “Will & Grace” was part of the original “Must See TV” block — along with such hits as “Friends” and “Frasier.”

After faltering in the ratings for several seasons, NBC brought back the comedy branding under the “Comedy Night Done Right” banner, though the shows, which included selections such as “My Name Is Earl” and “30 Rock” never achieved the booming ratings that the original “Must See TV” block did.
