According to preliminary Nielsen data, Bernie Sanders‘ town hall of the Fox cable channel that moderators Brett Baier and Martha MacCallum work for beat CNN’s town hall ratings.
- An estimated 2.5 million viewed the event, which occupied the second half hour block normally occupied by Baier’s “Special Report.”
- The telecast was the top rated show in cable news during its timeslot.
- The event took place in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
- During the event, Baier took an informal audience poll to see who support Sanders’ call for “Medicare for all.”
- CNN’s town hall halls have been dipping in the ratings lately and the Fox telecast, beat the CNN one he appeared on earlier in the year.
- It also bested the top rated of all CNN town halls this election cycle — Kamala Harris’ that drew 1.95 million viewers.
- The high ratings Fox can deliver have already caught the eye of other Democratic candidates.
