CBS and Turner Sports will pay all of the technicians and utilities who would have worked during its coverage of the NCAA Tournament, Final Four, Division II and Division III National Championship coverage.
The networks were planning to air extensive coverage of all of these games before the coronavirus shut down most college and pro sports.
Many sports broadcasts rely heavily on freelancers as well — and CBS and Turner have committed to paying those workers as well.
Slight relief for some freelancers
“CBS Sports has agreed to pay technicians and utilities who were scheduled to work the NCAA Tournament, Final Four, Division II and Division III National Championship.”
Great move from @CBSSports
