NBC makes hire for ‘BLK’ vertical

NBC News Digital has hired Janell Ross as a reporter for NBC BLK, NBC News’ digital vertical covering stories, issues and opinions of the black community.

  • She will eventually be based in New York and starts Nov. 12.
  • “We are excited to announce that Janell Ross is joining NBC News Digital as a staff reporter for NBC BLK. She will focus on original reporting and advancing breaking news and features related to black identity, politics, and culture. Janell is a gifted writer, reporter and analyst who specializes in major domestic policy matters and social issues. She covered race and politics for the Washington Post’s national desk, contributing to the popular political blog, ‘The Fix.’ Her work has also appeared in The Atlantic, The New Republic and HuffPost, among other publications, and she is currently working on a book about the racial wealth gap. A Texas native, Janell is a graduate of Vassar College and Columbia University. Janell starts on Nov. 12, working out of Washington for a few weeks before she moves to New York, and will report to Todd.
