As America gears up for a holiday shopping season like no other, and as families spend more time at home, NBC “Today” Lifestyle Contributor Jill Martin is your trusted guide through it all.

On Nov. 23, 2020 at 9 a.m. eastern, Martin will host a first-of-its-kind holiday shopping and streaming event: “Peacock Presents: Holiday Steals and Deals with Jill Martin,” available exclusively on Today All Day, the morning show’s new streaming channel on Peacock and Today.com.

In this special extended version of Martin’s popular “Steals & Deals” franchise, she and her own family kick off Thanksgiving week by sharing their holiday shopping traditions, adapted for the way we are all living in 2020. Plus, Martin will be joined by Al Roker and Dylan Dreyer and celebrity guests Olivia Culpo, Kathie Lee Gifford and Tracy Morgan.

Most deal segments on television typically require kind of payment from the companies, in addition to giving the steep discounts to buyers. Others cut the show or network in on a portion of the sales, though it’s not clear what financial cut, if any, NBC will take from this special.

These segments have become popular on talk and morning shows as a sort of a more conspicuous “product placement” and “DVR proof” “commercial.”

The segments can be seen as a “win-win” since the show gets some extra revenue and viewers get introduced to new products at potentially lower prices (though there has been some cases of companies being accused of artificially inflating the “retail price” to make the savings seem bigger).

When news programs are involved, the show’s anchors may or may not be part of the segment, but typically a presenter such as Martin will be the one introducing the products and making the pitch while any anchors taking part politely try out the products and make general comments at the items.

Talk shows, on the other hand, typically have the host take part during the entire segment, also trying out items.

With this “Today All Day” special, viewers can kick off their Black Friday shopping even earlier than usual and get major deals up to 85% off on top fashion, beauty, home and kitchen products — the majority of which are from small businesses around the country. Martin will share some of the most popular gadgets & electronics, gift ideas under $40, must-haves for men and women, things-you-didn’t-know-you-needed items, holiday hosting essentials and much more.

Viewers can shop by scanning the ShoppableTV QR code on screen or by visiting Today.com/deals, and they can watch live or on-demand, giving shoppers plenty of opportunity to tune in and purchase their favorite products for everyone on their gift list.

Since launching ten years ago, “Steals & Deals” has evolved into an innovative, cross-platform ecommerce initiative, with on-air segments and a specialized commerce site on the show’s webiste. and was the first brand to do so. On air, it appears as editorial segments providing exclusive offers to “Today” viewers. Online, it is the preeminent destination for brands to unlock a premium environment, broad reach and best-in-class conversion to drive sales and new customers – uniquely combining the best of brand awareness and performance. Now, with the addition of a streaming special, “Steals & Deals” is expanding once again to a new platform, merging editorial content and a home shopping experience.

This special follows the success of additional special programming on the Today All Day streaming channel including Rokerthon, “Coronavirus and the Classroom “town hall, the travel series “Incredible World” and daily fitness and cooking classes.

“Peacock Presents: Holiday Steals & Deals with Jill Martin” is produced by the NBC News Custom Productions Unit that produces, among other things, native content like this separately from the network’s editorial team.
