What did NBC News Digital win its first Emmy for?

NBC News Digital scored a significant win at the 2018 News and Documentary Emmys.

  • The division’s documentary “Battling Dementia: A mother and son’s incredible journey” won the Emmy for Outstanding Feature Story in a Newsmagazine Monday, Oct. 1, 2018.
  • “Battling Dementia” is the network’s first Emmy nomination and win.
  • “We are honored by this Emmy award win, which is an endorsement of our focus on quality journalism and innovative video storytelling,” said Nick Ascheim, SVP of digital at NBC News Group said.
  • The documentary beat out entries from both traditional media outlets including ABC’s “20/20,” CBS News’ “60 Minutes.”
  • ABC News’ digital division was also nominated.
  • “Working on this doc was a truly grueling, but incredibly rewarding experience. We feel honored to have been able to tell Joey’s untold story of the caretakers and loved ones affected by Dementia, said Mariana Keller, senior video producer for NBC News Digital. “I’m so glad to work for a news organization that believes in the power of in-depth, digital-native documentary work to bring important issues to light in meaningful ways.”
