CBS News was back in the Ed Sullivan Theater Saturday, April 4, 2020 — though with only one anchor there.

While Michelle Miller and Dana Jacobson joined “CBS This Morning Saturday” remotely, former “CBS Evening News” anchor Jeff Glor was broadcasting from the theater, which is normally home to “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

The weekday editions of “CBS This Morning” moved into the theater starting March 19, 2020, with Anthony Mason switching to home broadcast March 25, 2020.

On March 30, 2020, Gayle King and Tony Dokoupil followed suit making it one of the first major multianchor network broadcasts to have all anchors remote.

CBS operations in New York City have been spread out after multiple cases of coronavirus were reported in the broadcast facility used to produce a variety of news and sports programming.

“The Late Show” originally went on hiatus a week earlier amid the early stages of the coronavirus outbreak, but later extended the break.

It has since returned but is not using the Ed Sullivan Theater, instead taping segments from Colbert’s home.
