Popeyes is almost out of chicken sandwiches

After launching its new chicken sandwich offering that grabbed the hearts (and stomachs) of Americans, Popeyes says it will likely eat through its entire supply by Aug. 31, 2019.

The sandwich was a smash hit — with comparisons being made to Chick-Fil-A’s similar menu item.

Others have also noted that Popeyes version appears to be served “without the hate” — referring to Chick-Fil-A’s well publicized donations to anti-gay organizations and homophobic remarks by execs.

While Popeyes says it anticipated high demand and had originally made plans for enough inventory to last through the end of September, the company says it’s almost out of its inventory — nearly a month ahead of time.

Put another way, customers ate more chicken sandwiches in just over two weeks than Popeyes thought would take almost a month and a half.

Meanwhile, the chain says it is working with its suppliers to get the sandwich back in stores as soon as possible, but hasn’t released an exact date yet.

If you want to be alerted to when the sandwich is back, Popeyes suggests downloading its app and setting up notifications — it plans to send a push notification to users when the item is back in stock.
