Report: CNN chief has been meeting with MSNBC anchor
MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle has reportedly met with CNN chief Jeff Zucker about jumping networks, Mediaite reports.
- Ruhle anchors “MSNBC Live with Stephanie Ruhle” at 9 a.m. eastern and a “Velshi & Ruhle” branded hour of “MSNBC Live” at 1 p.m. with Ali Velshi.
- Zucker and and Ruhle reportedly have met “multiple” times over the past year.
- Sources say CNN could have Ruhle take over the 11 p.m. slot that is currently an extension of “CNN Tonight” with Don Lemon.
- However, network execs are also reportedly happy with how Laura Coates is handling special programming in that timeslot focused on the impeachment inquiry.
- The network is reportedly considering keep Coates’ as a host at 11 p.m. at least through the end of the impeachment inquiry.
- Mediaite also points out that CNN could use Ruhle on its “New Day” morning show.
