Ryan Seacrest set to return as ‘American Idol’ host

Ryan Seacrest, who has hosted “American Idol” since the series inception in 2002, will return for Season 16 of the singing competition.

  • The show aired for 15 seasons on Fox before moving to ABC in 2018.
  • Also set to return are judges Katy Perry, Lionel Ritchie and Luke Bryan, who have held those roles since the ABC debut.
  • The show began taping auditions in September 2019 with the show set to debut in February 2020.
  • Seacrest will continue to host “Live with Kelly and Ryan” and “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest,” both on ABC.
  • Seacrest is also continuing to host “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” and “American Top 40” nationally syndicated radio shows.
