ABC 7 Chicago general assignment reporter Will Jones is leaving the station after seven years.
Jones joined ABC-owned WLS in 2016 and was named the station’s first race and culture reporter in January 2021, according to the station.
“I have done many stories during my tenure, but I’m most proud of my work over the last two years as the only television reporter in the market focused exclusively on stories involving race, culture and social justice,” Jones tweeted.
PS: As I was looking through photos of my time at ABC 7, I thought this one fully captured my intentions with my reporting, particularly over the last two years. pic.twitter.com/zNcnUtyIwe

Jones says he’s moving back to Detroit for a job as an anchor and reporter, though he did not specify which station he has signed on with.
Prior to moving to ABC 7, he worked at WDIV in the market.
His last day at WLS is Friday, Feb. 10, 2023.
