Boston CBS announcements anchor changes to fill gap left by layoffs

Boston’s CBS owned stations have announced anchor changes that start Monday, Aug. 24, 2020.
Liam Martin, currently an evening reporter and anchor on CBS’s WBZ, will move to mornings alongside Kate Merrill.
Martin anchors the station’s 5:30 p.m. newscast and 10 p.m. news on sister station MyNetworkTV affiliate WSBK.
Anaridis Rodriguez, meanwhile, will anchor at 5:30 with Paula Ebben and 10 p.m. with Merrill on WSBK. Rodriguez curre
The changes will, notably, give the stations two female anchors at 5:30 and 10 p.m.
Martin replaces Chris McKinnon, who was laid off from WBZ in May 2020, amid a sweeping set of staff reductions across CBS and other properties (Merrill’s bio on the station website still lists McKinnon as co-anchor though his bio has been scrubbed entirely).
No changes were announced for other timeslots.
