To mark the launch of CNN+, the network’s Vault by CNN is offering the first moment of streamer CNN+’s live programming from “5 Things with Kate Bolduan” as NFTs.
“CNN+’s debut is a historic moment for CNN,” said Andrew Morse, CNN EVP, chief digital officer and head of CNN+. “We’re excited to raise the curtain on this new platform and making CNN+’s first live moments available as an NFT is the perfect way to celebrate our launch with digital collectors.”
The NFT goes live March 30, 2022, at 1 p.m. eastern. There will be 250 editions of the NFT that will be priced at $50 each.
Vault is a new initiative, separate from CNN editorial, that creates NFTs from CNN’s 40+ year media archive, as well as new original artwork, to spark community conversations about world events. H
Historic events that have previously been minted as NFTs — with some selling out in minutes — include consequential presidential elections, milestone space launches and landmark Supreme Court decisions.
CNN moments have also been minted as NFTs, including footage of Ted Turner first launching CNN in 1980 and the live reporting of CNN reporters Bernard Shaw, John Holliman and Peter Arnett during the start of the Persian Gulf War.
