Disney and Target are partnering to open 25 “stores within a store” this year — with more to follow.
The first batch will open in October and Target.com has already launched a Disney centric website that includes a store locator.
These locations will set aside part of its store floor space to showcase and sell Disney themed products and operate under the “Disney Store” banner.
The companies plan to expand the concept locations in 2020.
Disney operates full stores in both a traditional retail and outlet format as well.
It has also partnered to run Disney themed departments in select JCPenney stores since 2012.
Disney previously licensed its retail store rights to The Children’s Place from 2004 to 2008.
