The head booker and senior story editor for the Fox Business Network died from COVID-19 over the weekend, his family and the network confirmed March 22, 2021.
Eric Spinato’s death was confirmed by his brother, Dean, on social media, and on air by host David Asman, notes CNN.
He had been with Fox’s networks for over 20 years, first joining in 1998. He would return in 2007 after stints at CNN and MSNBC.
Most recently he worked mainly under host Maria Bartiromo.
Spinato is survived by a girlfriend and two sons.
Despite on air downplaying and misinformation about the coronavirus pandemic and COVID-19 vaccines, Fox Media has taken significant steps to protect its employees, including moving employees to remote work, including on air talent broadcasting from home studios or socially distanced at Fox’s facilities.
The network has also announced that most employees shouldn’t expect to return to the office until September 2021 at the earliest.
The network aired a special about the COVID vaccine March 21, 2020, even as some of its biggest stars continued to spread doubt and questions about the safety of the shots.
